Why Goals are Important

Hey team.

Happy NY to you all 🙂

As with every year, you no doubt have gone through and added in or reviewed your goals for the year.  So I thought I would share with an extract from Kerry Spackman’s “The Winner’s Bible” (Check out winnersbible.com to find out more)

It is all about the Importance of Goals.  It discusses the importance of not just having a pretty picture of your goal, but how you use that to get your results.  Happy reading!

You may be asking yourself why you should go to all this effort of finding images for your Goals and then using them each morning.  To see why this is so important imagine you’re woken up at 6 o’clock every morning and dragged out of bed by a really bossy person.  He then shouts at you for the next two hours and forces you to lift and move heavy lumps of iron around until you finally collapse from exhaustion.  It wouldn’t take too many weeks before you’d begin to dread the sound of his footsteps approaching your bedroom door at 6 o’clock each morning.  It wouldn’t be even more soul destroying if, after all his shouting, the heavy objects always end up back exactly where they started.

Now imagine exactly the same scenario, but instead you are training for the Olympics and that bossy person is your coach.  Oh how things have changed.  Mornings are no longer dreaded.  Instead, each workout is a vital step towards your Goal of standing on the top step of the podium in front of millions of people.  Fame, fortune and personal satisfaction await you.  the tired muscles at the end of each workout give you a quiet satisfaction.

In both cases you are doing exactly the same work.  Both mornings are just as hard and demanding and yet they are completely different, simply because one has a Goal and one does not.

Goals provide you with the motivation you need to complete the tasks that will transform your life.  If your goals are indistinct or faded then your motivation will surely fail because discipline alone can never sustain you over the long haul.  Your motivation needs to be constantly topped up with positive enthusiasm.

Mr Spackman is a very respected and well used Mind Coach for elite Athletes such as Federer, Tiger, Michael Schumacher among others.

So if you need some motivation for your training, read this and see if your goals are set in stone and ready to be achieved.  If not, then you must go back to them and make them set in stone to get the most of them.

Much love

Goals are like muscles. You need to work on them every day to make them grow
